The Strange Boys "And Girls Club" was still in regular rotation when this came along and demanded my attention with it's batty/rainbowy cover art. Just fucking look at it! You can actually feel the "good record" vibes coming off of it. Even more fun than The Oh Sees last record (the whimsically titled "The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In").

With a new record by The Intelligence on the way as well, this summer could find several In The Red artists providing it's soundtrack. Even so, I don't get the feeling that anyone anywhere is gonna top this album cover anytime soon. Not even Lil Wayne lord master of shit-your-pants amazing album art can step to this. Kudos Oh Sees ku-dos.

Thing to Do # 1 : Read a Book

"Demon Theory" by Stephen Graham Jones

Any book will do really. But, if you're looking for a suggestion as to which book, you could always try one of those delightful Choose Your Own Adventure yarns. Or, you could even read the book that I just read, Stephen Graham Jones genuinely weird novel, "Demon Theory."

Three parts horror novel, one part film treatment, one part gonzo love letter to pop culture "Demon Theory" reads like the bizarro off-spring of Luis Bunuel's "The Exterminating Angel" and Wes Craven's "Scream" trilogy (which should in no way be looked at as a bad thing in this instance). The story will give you the creeps and the increasingly strange footnotes will give you the giggles. It's win win really.
